What to do in Jaca

Jaca is the ancient capital of the historical kingdom of Aragon. It is part of the St. James Route and also one of the most important tourist destinations of the region.

Spring and summer

To facilitate these activities, ski lifts can be used (at some seasons of the year) to get to the top of the mountains. There is also a land rover service available to approach to the mountains in order to start an excursion, enjoy the scenery or experience an exciting mountain bike descent following the trails.

Jaca’s Diocesan Museum deserves a special mention, since the collection holds authentic Romanesque art treasures, which were rescued from abandoned churches and chapels. The museum is located inside Jaca’s Romanesque Cathedral, one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture.

Autumn

In Autumn, Pyrenean forests evolve from green to a symphony of colours, it is the perfect time for a relaxing stroll and for quiet nature contemplation. If you want to escape the hussle and bussle of daily living, come enjoy nature and renew your energy in this magnificent scenery.

Winter

Snow is the main attraction of the region. The ski resorts of Astún and Candanchú are 28 km far from Jaca, on the road to France. It is the most important ski resort of the Huesca Pyrenees and has one of the largest ski areas in the country. Located at the head of the Aragón Valley, it has a downhill skiing area of 105 km, 61,5 km of cross-country skiing runs, snowboard halfpipe, 70-90 metres ski jump. Equipped with: artificial snow-making system, 42 ski lifts (2 chair lifts for 4 people, 3 chair lifts for 3 people, 5 chair lifts for 2 people, etc.).
